I see a lot of positive OLDER reviews. Can't speak to the past but if you have anything but a kayak you should avoid using this ramp when there are better options. Hasn't been maintained. Ramp is short and crumbling. Neighbors are clearly not fans of having a public ramp by them and will harass you. I've broken two props putting in here and that's with a Jon Boat and small motor. (Didn't learn my lesson the first time). There are numerous underwater hazards (rocks, trash, broken parts of the ramp) in the shallow water around the ramp
Mill Landing or as I like to call it, BFE, is a cool little gravel parking lot and boat launch on Nawney Creek in Pungo. This place used to be in the middle of nowhere when I discovered it back in the summer of 1987. Nothing but farm fields and woods. Now there's homes the whole way here. For over 30 years I've been going here for boating, crabbing and stargazing into the night sky. In the old days you could see the entire Milky Way out here at night. Many a time I've brought a telescope and a pair of binoculars. It's also a great spot for meteor showers. There's more light pollution on the skyline today than their used to be and you can also see Sandbridge across the back bay but it's still good place to visit day or night.
Oh my God. I loved it here. Beautiful and peaceful. Natural habitat type of environment. A must see and must experience to fully appreciate.
Ramp is real shallow, maybe too shallow. I backed in 'till my front wheels were almost in the water, and the boat still wasn't touching water on the back end. Any further and I could've lost traction and potentially slid in. So I launched it "by hand" since it's a smaller vessel.
Been coming here since I was a child and it's still a good place to sit on dock, clear your mind, and ground yourself!
