Boater Reviews
This is below Sinclar Dam right where the original run of The Oconee River comes together with the tail race that was dynamite out of solid rock when they built. It’s a great boat ramp well-maintained but has no bathroom and no lights. I think Georgia Power and Southern Company for putting in this boat ramp.
Pin is in correct location, but current driving directions will not get you there!! Don't turn off Sinclair Dam Rd. Continue on Sinclair Dam Rd, passing through large chain link gate. At this point, the road will become gravel. Continue past the parking lot on the left, following the road another approx. 3/4 mile downstream from the dam to the ramp and parking area. Ramp and parking area are generally well maintained by GA Power. However, take note that there are no restroom facilities on site, so make a pit stop at the recently re-opened convenience store at the corner of Jefferson St. and Sinclair Dam Rd. This section of the Oconee River is a great paddle, but be aware that it ends with a rapid at the old mill adjacent to the Oconee River Greenway. While this rapid is fairly small, the water is usually shallow, and flipping your boat can result in bumping and scraping on the rocks. Follow the mill channel, but stay far left (next to Buzzard Island) as you approach the old dam. You need more than 9.5' on the local gauge to run the drop in the main channel of the river. At that level, be prepared for a pretty good initial drop. After that, it's just dodging submerged rocks for a bit before emptying into the flat water below the mill. Have fun, be safe!
Decent place to fish when the weather is good...no public bathrooms...boat ramp is good... watch for snakes if you're fishing from the bank
Great place to put your boat in and fish from the banks. There is no public restroom here, ladies make sure you go before you arrive 😊
Beautiful and serene..but potentially very dangerous because of the spill way dam right there at it..
