Boater Reviews
Located at the North Carolina / South Carolina border where York Road (SR-49) crosses Lake Wylie, this boat ramp is a great spot for accessing the lake. The park has plenty of paved parking and nice shallow boat ramps that have enough room to reverse your trailer properly. There are also some public restrooms here. The launch is close to a number of marinas where you can purchase fuel, snacks and other stuff you'll need as you spend the day on the Lake. Lake Wylie was first formed in 1904 when the Catawba Power Company built the Catawba Dam and Power Plant near India Hook, impounding the Catawba River. In 1924, the Southern Power Company raised the level of the dam which increased the surface area of the lake from 668 acres to over 13,400 acres. Now the Wylie Hydroelectric Station, it is operated by Duke Power Company. The Catawba Nuclear Generating Station is also on the lake and uses it for cooling.
This place is reserved for launching boats on the lake, but it has ample parking where you can stop and enjoy a good view of the lake. The place has a clean public restroom. There is also some animal life on the lakeside, I recommend it.
Beautiful!!! But the water is dirty. We went there to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July! We got there at 5:30 to get a good seat and avoid bumper to bumper traffic on the bridge. Very fun! 🤩
Love this place. I always buy temporary license because I'm from NC, but it's well worth it. The view is wonderful, the people are nice, and you see some of the most beautiful boats. I have never left here without a good amount of fish in my bucket. Visit here often. 👍
Needs to do better in cleaning the rest room. Ample parking for all trucks and trailers and single vehicles.
